When MARS Inc. approached Illuminati Studios looking for improved internal communications in their North American Division, our team helped them build a powerful toolbox that connected associates across all business groups.
Before hiring Illuminati Studios, MARS Inc. had decentralized its electronic internal communications; each business group within the company was given authority over its own intranet. This system failed to accurately represent the organizational structure of MARS Inc. and spawned a glut of independent intranets with no standard interface, navigation or page hierarchy. Consequently, many of the intranets were a hodgepodge of outdated images, unplanned layout and static content that was largely irrelevant to MARS'. associates.
Illuminati Studios took a multi-pronged approach to building stronger internal communications for MARS Inc. The intranet's identity received a makeover; it was renamed "dotMars" and given a sleek logo. Our technology and design teams developed an integrated user interface and navigation with a cleaner, more professional and more modern feel that was standardized across business groups. The new design improved productivity, usability and access to applications and content. Our robust hardware and software framework provided a scalable and expandable platform for future growth.

From an organizational angle, we retooled content and functionality to better reflect MARS' managerial and brand structure. We also developed online applications like news tools, real time product metrics, polls, videos and management portals, which increased employee knowledge about the organization’s activities and brands across the country via a simple and easy-to-use website. The biggest overall benefit was the introduction of a content management system. The system was custom built, which provided a variety of options and capabilities to meet the specific needs of the organization. The site was viewed by thousands daily and managed by more than 50 content mangers. The success of the intranet launched the discussion of creating a global version of the Intranet to expand through their other continental counterparts.
